We hope you had a lovely Easter. Term 2 starts Monday April 20th.
2026 Term Dates
Term 1: Mon 2nd Feb – Thur 2nd April (No classes: Mon 9th March – Labour Day)
Term 2: Mon 20th Apr – Sat 27th June (No classes: 25th Apr -ANZAC Day & Mon 8th June - King’s Birthday)
Term 3: Mon 13th July – Sat 19th Sept
Term 4: Mon 5th Oct – Sat 12th Dec (No classes: Tues 3rd Nov-Melb Cup)
Classes do not run on public holidays. If your regular class falls on a public holiday, you are welcome to arrange a make-up class. These must be booked within the same term and do not roll over.

- Presentation Week: May 11th-16th – Upper School students only (not Stardust)*
- Watching Week: May 18th-23rd – All divisions (Stardust too!)
- Drama Showcase: May 23rd
- Aspire/VCE Solo Showcase: Friday June 12th
- Senior School Mid-Year Showcase: Sunday July 19th (Term 3) (Senior Upper School only)
* Most Senior classes take part in either Presentation Day or the Mid-Year Showcase – not both. Read on for a full list of who is doing what.

Presentation Day & Watching Week - May 11th-23rd
Upper School students are now working on a set of exercises that they will perform for a guest teacher on Presentation Day (May 11th-16th).
You will soon receive videos and a practice chart – please encourage students to do some home practice.
The following week is Watching Week (May 18th-23rd), where families are invited to come and watch classes, and see students receive their medal and certificate** for completing their Presentation.
This is intended as a fun, stress-free event, celebrating all of our students’ participation and progress. For a full list of the classes taking part in Presentation Day, please click link below.
** Stardust classes participate in Watching Week only - not Presentation Day. They don’t receive a medal and certificate, but we will make this week extra fun and special for them!

Senior School Mid-Year Showcase - Sunday July 19th
Upper School Senior classes that don’t take part in Presentation Day will spend Term 2 rehearsing for the Senior School Mid-Year Showcase. This year it will be held at the fabulous Clocktower Centre in Moonee Ponds!

End of Term Disco - Saturday June 27th
To celebrate the end of Term 2, we’re running our popular Winter Disco! This event is for for 5-12 year old Rain & Lucky students and their friends, at our Fairfield studios. Save the date and look out for further info and a ticket link, coming soon.
Drama Showcase - Saturday May 23rd
Our talented Drama students will spend Term 2 working towards an in-house performance for families! This replaces Watching Week for the Drama class. Check the email "Save the Date - Drama In-House Showcase!" sent on March 24th for all the info.
Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Assessments
Invitations will soon be sent out to students eligible to sit an RAD Assessment this year. We highly recommend this positive and beneficial experience.
Uniform in Colder Months
As we move into the cooler months, correct uniform is still required in all classes. This includes warm-up items. We have jackets, trackies, puffer vests, legwarmers, tees and onesies that are all official warm-up uniform – other items are not permitted in class. Please remember also not to wear dance shoes on the street! This helps us protect our floors, and ensures your dance shoes last longer.
A Simple Bun Tutorial
A reminder that a ballet bun is part of the girls’ uniform requirement for ALL ballet classes for school-aged students. We sell hair-kits at the studio if you need one. Here's a super quick tutorial video for you! We’re always happy to help show you how to do a bun as well.

Welcome Miss Lizi!
After an extensive search (12 months in fact!!), we have finally found our new Academy Manager, Lizi Bright. Lizi was actually one of the very first R&L students, when we ran an adult ballet class out of a school hall 10 years ago! Since then Lizi has become an accomplished sports performance scientist working in elite sport, and is excited to return to her first love, working in dance. Miss Lizi will be handling all of your enquiries from now on and looks forward to meeting everyone soon. Please ensure that you use hello@rainandlucky.com and 0483 948 744 for all your enquiries.
Emergency Evacuation Drills
As part of our commitment to safety for our whole community, we will be running an Emergency Evacuation Drill on Thursday 7th May, at both studio locations. Please be prepared that this may be happening at a time that you/your child is at R&L. Thank you for your patience and cooperation in keeping Rain & Lucky a safe place for all.

BALLET DIARIES
Our very own Miss Jojo has published a set of diaries designed to help your dancers achieve their dreams!
"My Ballet Diaries" were created to give students a space that is truly their own—where they can reflect, grow, and connect more deeply with their dance journey. Each diary is thoughtfully designed for RAD levels, combining weekly pages for corrections and goals with inspiring content about ballets, dancers, and the art form itself. It’s not only a tool for organisation, but a gentle way to encourage confidence, creativity, and a love of learning in every young dancer.
These are available to order from Amazon for anyone who would like one.

General Reminders 💡
Door Codes & Student Safety
While there are staff in the building, Rain & Lucky students and parents are able to access the studios with the code:
8744 (the last 4 digits of our phone number, printed on the door)
We require guardians come into the studio to collect children, rather than having them meet you on the street/at your car. Only students aged 10 and above may leave the studio independently, if you have signed a Permission To Arrive & Leave Independently form.
Your Direct Debit
Unless you have opted to pay for the full year upfront, your monthly direct debit is charged on the 1st of each month, from February to December only. Direct debits to your account will continue until December, unless otherwise notified in writing to hello@rainandlucky.com and our Enrolment Cancellation form completed. Direct debit is the same amount each month regardless of how many classes are in the month. This includes school holidays, since the payments are averaged out over the full year. Two week’s written notice (ie by the 15th of the month) is required to cancel membership or reduce your number of weekly classes. Your next month’s tuition will be processed if notice is received after the 15th of the month. Any extras you choose to put on your account (eg. uniform items) will be charged to your card within 48 hours.
