Costumes

Students should arrive in costume with hair already done. Parents are not permitted backstage to assist.

Costumes will be handed out in class during October and November. They are then your responsibility – please keep them clean and ready for Photo Day (November 10th) and Concert Day! Do not return them in between. In most cases, costumes are yours to keep (unless a hire costume from our wardrobe).

Food

Please bring adequate food/water for the day and remind children to put something over their costume when eating. No nuts, please.

Drop-off

Drop students to us in the foyer and they will be supervised until sign-out after the show. For child safety and ease of operations, no parents are permitted backstage except Official Volunteers. Please allow our expert team to do what they do best 🙂

If you have a Working With Children Check and would like to volunteer to help on the day, let us know ASAP.

Hair

Ballet students (female): Must have hair in a super tidy ballet bun with pins, nets and hairspray/gel. We are happy to show you how to do this or you may also find this tutorial helpful. We sell hair kits at the studio if you need one.

Other (non-ballet) styles: Hair in a super tidy high ponytail with hairspray/gel – or as per teachers instructions.

Make-up

Stage make-up is not compulsory for our Junior concert, however it is recommended.

Standard stage make-up is required for the Senior concert. Click here for a basic template.

Tights – available to purchase at the studio

Ballet students (female): Clean, as-new ballet tights must be worn with all costumes.

Other (non-ballet) styles:  Clean, as-new tan tights must be worn with all costumes (no bare legs).

We sell tights at the studio.

Body stockings

A body stocking is a neutral coloured leotard that can be worn under costumes. Ideal for kids who find costumes itchy, girls who would like extra support, and anyone who needs to change costumes on the day. We sell body stockings at the studio if you need one.

Don’t forget:

  • Dance shoes & tights
  • Costumes
  • Hair/make-up kit
  • Water bottle and snacks
  • Quiet activity or book

Tickets

Tickets will be available to purchase soon. Performing students do not need a ticket.
