VCE Dance at Rain & Lucky

Rain & Lucky Academy of Dance is proud to offer VCE Dance Units 1, 2, 3 & 4 – a fully accredited VCE course recognised by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA).

In 2026, our VCE Dance program runs on Wednesdays, 7:45pm at Rain & Lucky Preston. Classes are designed to support students both technically and creatively, while working alongside the written component they complete through their school or Virtual School Victoria.

What students do in VCE Dance

In our VCE Dance classes, students will:

  • Develop strong technical skills and dance conditioning
  • Build performance quality, artistry and confidence
  • Receive guided time to create their own choreographic works
  • Prepare and rehearse pieces for VCE performance assessments

These practical classes are carefully structured to support the written coursework provided by:

  • Virtual School Victoria, for students whose school does not offer VCE Dance, or
  • Their own secondary school, if VCE Dance is part of the school’s curriculum

Meet Miss Claire - our VCE dance specialist

The program is led by Miss Claire, our in-house VCE Dance expert.
 Claire also coordinates the VCE Dance program at the University of Melbourne VCE Summer School, bringing a wealth of experience in guiding students through the specific requirements of the VCE Dance study design.

She will work in partnership with each student and their school to ensure the course requirements are clearly understood and confidently met.

VCE Pathways – for younger dancers

For younger students who are considering VCE Dance in the future, we offer VCE Pathways, alongside the main VCE Dance class.

VCE Pathways is a supportive introduction to:

  • Choreography and creative process
  • Dance terminology and concepts
  • Movement, phrasing and musicality
  • Collaborative group work and performance

This class helps students gain confidence, experience and a head start if they choose to take on VCE Dance later on.
