When do we re-enrol?
As soon as you like. Our classes fill quickly and we will offer places to new students soon, so early enrolment is highly recommended.
What’s new in 2025?
It’s Rain & Lucky’s 10th birthday! To celebrate, we are re-vamping our End of Year concert format. Rather than a Junior and a Senior Concert, next year we’ll be doing a Story Ballet and a Modern Musical! Plus, the Spring Showcase will be replaced by our 10th Birthday Showcase!
Galaxies – a new level above Supernovas! Galaxies is for our Advanced dancers aged 17+
ChoreoLab – for Comets, Supernovas and Galaxies. A creative exploration class to learn the art of choreography, exploring tools and techniques to develop your own unique choreographic voice. Create your own works to be performed at our 10th Birthday Showcase!
Flexibility Workshop – for Comets, Supernovas and Galaxies. Stretching and strengthening exercises designed to increase your flexibility, protect you from injury, and power-up your dance technique.
New options for our Stardust pre-school dancers: Tiny dancers aged 3.5-5 can now choose from Ballet, Acrobatics and Jazz! Plus don’t forget we have Twinkle Tots, a parent-participation class for kids from 18 months up.
Discovering Repertoire: An RAD ballet performance syllabus – highly encouraged for students above Grade 5 RAD! The programme includes well-known classical repertoire, meaning students will learn and dance choreography that they have seen on stage, set to music that they know and love. Examples of repertoire include Swan Lake, Coppelia, Nutcracker, Giselle, Paquita & Sleeping Beauty. Dancers also get to wear a tutu in this class! No need to buy one – we will provide them 🙂
Moonbeams Jazz & Tap at Preston: A combination class for our Moonbeams (5-7 year-olds) – learn both Jazz & Tap in the same class!
Advanced Pointe & Conditioning: At Preston, we have split the Pointe & Conditioning class into two levels: Beginner/Intermediate (0-2 years en pointe) and Advanced (3+ years en pointe). Advanced Pointe will do a concert routine.
Pre-Pointe & Conditioning: Now available to all students Grade 3 and above. Anybody wishing to wear pointe shoes one day must start by taking this class.
Is there a mandatory minimum?
For students wishing to take Ballet Grade 3 and above, two ballet classes per week of the same grade is the minimum. (A reminder to any students wishing to wear pointe shoes one day – two hours of ballet a week from Grade 2 is needed to safely reach this goal!)
But my child only wants to do ballet once a week…
Our speciality is classical ballet, and we pride ourselves on a high technical standard in this art form. This can’t be achieved with one class a week. Lyrical is the perfect alternative if just looking to attend once a week – or choose any of the other styles on offer. For Senior students, Open Ballet and Discovering Repertoire can be taken once per week.
Which level should we choose?
For ballet, each grade may be studied across one or two years, depending on the individual student. Our expert staff will advise the best class for each ballet student. For all other styles, we generally go by age. Please use our handy progression infographic below as a guide. Particularly for ballet, choosing the correct level is vital and we can assist. Class placement is strictly at the discretion of Rain & Lucky staff.

We are interested in working towards ballet assessments or exams – what do we need to do?
You must be enrolled in two weekly ballet classes of the same level. We highly recommend the RAD assessment system and are happy to discuss it if you’re unsure. Please ensure you have read this information about assessments.
We are interested in more in-depth ballet training, or performing a solo.
ASPIRE – Elite Classical Ballet Extension Program is developed for ballet students who want to take their training to the next level. This is an audition-only program with limited places available to dedicated students. Here is some more information. This year’s audition will be on December 15th, 2024. Register for the Aspire audition here.
Do all classes perform in the end of year concert?
Twinkle Tots and Stardust Dance Intro do not formally participate, although they are invited to have a free dance on stage. Assessment Classes (ie one of each RAD level) do not perform, as these classes are focused on technique and syllabus work. Pre-Pointe and Beginner Pointe do not participate.
Can we drop just one of our two ballet classes at concert time?
No. For all ballet classes Grade 3 and above, two classes per week is mandatory throughout the year. During concert season, classes not performing in the concert continue to work on the technique needed to give students a strong start the following year. This is part of our broader training strategy to develop strong dancers. Ballet is our speciality and Rain & Lucky is unique in that we aim to balance the best technical ballet training within a nurturing environment that considers the training trajectory of each individual student.
What are the fees for 2025?
Do you offer a discount?
Yes. Pay upfront for the full year by February 1st and save 10%. Click here if you want to take this option. Upfront fees are not refundable or transferable.
Is there a discount for taking multiple classes?
Yes there is – we highly encourage multiple classes for all students 7 and over. You will love seeing the huge jump in progress they’ll make. If enrolled in 7 or more classes per week, fees are capped and unlimited classes may be taken.
My child is starting prep – should we take a break?
Our Term 1 classes are tailored gently with preppies in mind; giving them the space and time they need to settle into the busy school year. Plus, prep-level classes are only 45 minutes. We do a lot of foundation work in Term 1 so we don’t recommend missing it, and as these are our most popular classes, you may not get a spot in Term 2 onwards. Many parents find that continuing a familiar activity when everything else is new, is actually more beneficial when it comes to preppies adjusting to school life!
Can we try some different classes?
Yes. Students can try as many classes as they like during our bonus Free For All Week, December 9th-14th! More details on that will be emailed to you soon.
Do we keep paying over the summer holidays?
No. December is the last month for direct debits. The payment plan for your new chosen classes will start on February 1st, 2025.
Are there any summer classes available?
